Welcome

Welcome to our place...just two steps away from the funny farm! To explain this name, whenever things get crazy at our house, I always say "Well, we are just two steps away from the funny farm!" As a very busy homeschooling family, things DO sometimes get a bit chaotic. But we love this life of living and learning together and there is never a dull moment!

The picture of the beautiful Amish farm on this page was taken while we were on the Strasburg Railroad.

The Gifts God Gives Us

Our son Joel loves to draw. He has gone through stacks of sketch books over the years and tons of ink! We realized he was going to be an artist when he was two years old and he was already drawing stick people! It is a wonderful gift that he's been given by God although so many times he has wished he had been gifted athletically instead. He LOVES sports so much. However, we know that God has made him artistic for a purpose. We don't get to choose the gifts God gives us, but we are to share them and use them for His glory.

Here are a few drawings from one of his sketch books to share with you. Click on a picture to make it bigger.

Wow! Those are great! My oldest is more of an abstract creator. When she was in (public) kindergarten, the teacher would get onto her for coloring her bears multi-colored. I told her(Sam) it was fine and she could color her bears whatever color she likes. She still likes to create to her own beat. Thanks for sharing your talented Joel's work!

I thought my cousin was a CHICAGO CUBS FAN and had GOOD taste in baseball?? Next thing I know, he's drawing pictures of St. Louis Cardinals players. What's up with that??

Great detail, but next time, can't you draw some Cubs?

James(better known as Jaime from the frozen north!)

Love your pictures, dear nephew!! Your detail is AMAZING! God has given you a wonderful gift and I'm so pleased to see you using it. Can't wait to see what you create next! (But I have to tell you, Uncle Earle would agree with Jaime! You've got to do some of the Cubbies!)) :)

Joel said that if he had some good pictures of Cubs players, he would draw them! He usually uses a picture to look at while he draws. And besides, he says that he doesn't want to be biased in his art and as an artist, he draws all players. But as a fan, he loves the Cubs the best! And of course, the Redskins for football! Although he doesn't have many Redskins drawings either!!!!
